Basil, also called great basil, is a culinary herb within the mint family. Basil is used widely in many different cuisines including Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. Basil is famously used in pasta sauces, pesto and tomato sauces. It also works well as a garnish and can be dried with low effort while retaining its taste. 

The plant can be grown with constant harvest for up to 12 months if cut correctly. Replacement of plants is recommended within 8-12 months of germination.
